Go by bus

When riding a bus, it is important to note whether the bus has a flat fare or whether the fare depends on the distance or section you travel. There are two doors on the bus, one at the front and one at the rear, and which door you use to get on and off varies from region to region and route to route.

The fare may vary depending on the section and distance traveled. Rear-door and front-door buses.

If you boarded the bus with an IC card, touch the card to the machine once more.

6. Get off the bus through the front door.

* The exchange machine does not accept bills other than 1000-yen bills, so make sure you have them before you get on the bus as much as possible (the driver may be able to remove them for you).

Flat fare bus

1. board the bus through the front door.

2. Pay when you get on the bus. Put money into the machine next to the driver. If you don't have enough money, you can put more than the fare into the machine and change will be automatically given.

4. get off from the back door. You do not need to do anything in particular at this time.

In some regions, you can get on through the front door and get off through the front door, or you can get on through the back door and pay to get off through the front door, even though the fare is the same. However, if you know the above two methods, you will be able to cope with the situation.

In Japan, hanko are needed in a variety of situations. Not only when submitting documents to the municipal office or opening an account at a bank, but also for simple tasks such as receiving a parcel delivery or stamping a confirmation when you see a document at work. There are hanko (stamp) shops in town that sell hanko with a variety of surnames for several hundred yen. If the name is that of a foreigner, the stamp is made to order. Depending on the material and size of the stamp, the price starts at around 2,000 yen.  However, since the government and banks are different, you may need a hanko at a moment's notice. Recently, there are services that make hanko for foreigners using letters of the alphabet, katakana, kanji, and other characters of their choice, so some foreigners try to make their own hanko even if it is not necessary for daily life.

In Japanese, it is common to add "~san" to the back of a person's name when addressing another person. It is very convenient because it can be used to address anyone, regardless of gender (male or female, older or younger, married or unmarried, etc.). In Japanese names, the surname is usually used before "~-san". The first name is used among family members and close friends, and is rarely used in formal situations such as work. However, when a foreigner's name is used, regardless of whether it is a surname or a first name, it is common to add "~san" to the name by which the person wants to be called. Other words used after a name in the same way as "~san" include "~kun," "~chan," and "~sama. The "~kun" is a casual way to address a man of the same age or a younger man. “Chan" is used to call children, and is also used between friends in a very friendly manner. In speech, "~sama" is a more polite form of "~san," and is used by shopkeepers to address customers by name.

In Japanese, there are different ways of saying "Chichi/Haha”and "father/mother" to describe fathers and mothers. In general, "Chichi/Haha" is used to refer to one's own family and "father/mother" to refer to someone else's family, but the actual usage differs depending on the formality of the situation and the age of the speaker. However, in informal situations such as between friends, or especially when the speaker is a young person such as a student, "father, mother, brother, or sister" is often used to refer to one's own parents. In such cases, the term "father, mother, brother, and sister" is often used. When you hear young Japanese people using phrases like "father/mother/brother/sister", think about whose family they are referring to. However, when you hear someone use a phrase that refers to someone younger than you (younger brother, younger sister, son, daughter, etc.), you should not use the "san" form to refer to your own family members. However, if you are asking someone, "Do you have children( Okosan) ?" (What is your son (Goshisoku) or daughter's (Ojyousan) name?)

Have you ever heard of "wabi and sabi"? Wabi and sabi" is the Japanese aesthetic of simplicity, sobriety, quietness, and tranquility. A person looked at an old temple and said, "Nice temple. Seeing a simple and sober old temple and thinking, "I like it," is a feeling that goes hand in hand with wabi-sabi.  When you see the famous "Kinkaku-ji" and "Ginkaku-ji" in Kyoto, you may think that Ginkaku-ji looks shabby with its brown wooden structure instead of silver, compared to the golden and glittering beauty of Kinkaku-ji. However, the beauty of Ginkaku-ji is more soothing to the mind, and this awareness is called "wabi-sabi". When you see famous temples and gardens in Japan, you may think, "They are just old and dirty. Why is this so famous? In such a case, you may feel "Wabi and Sabi". When you feel this way, please remember the words "wabi and sabi".
