Czech Christmas cookies_Vanilkové rohlíčky

Czech Christmas Cookies

Czechs are extravagant when it comes to Christmas. They buy lots of gifts and make lots of cookies. This is to see family, relatives, and friends whom they have not seen in the past year, to exchange gifts, and to give cookies. We make so many cookies that we have from Christmas dinner on the 24th until the end of January. There are 10 to 15 varieties, enough to sell in stores. Cookies made according to traditional recipes passed down in each family are an indispensable part of the Czech Christmas season.

Ingredient

340g másla

100g cukru moučka

420g hladké mouky

160g mletých vlašských ořechů

na obalování moučkový cukr s vanilkou

1. combine flour, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla sugar and knead until creamy. It is easier to do this if you take the butter out of the refrigerator about an hour before and let it come to room temperature.

2. Then, throw in the yolk of an egg (at room temperature) and mix.

3. Add more and walnut powder.

4. Wrap the finished dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 day. Since there is more butter in the dough, please chill it thoroughly to firm it up.

5. when you start forming, heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
After dusting with flour to prevent the dough from sticking to the cutting board because of the large amount of butter, divide the dough lump into four equal parts, make cylinders out of one quarter of the dough, and cut into 2 cm in diameter. Rolling the crescent shape with a slight pressure on the edges, place the crescent on the baking sheet. The ends of the crescent should be rounded. Be careful not to burn the crescent if the tip is sharp.

6. bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 8 minutes. Add another 1 to 2 minutes depending on the degree of baking. The rule of thumb is 10 minutes. While baking, mix together the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar.

7. when the cookies are slightly golden brown at both ends, remove from oven and let sit for 2 minutes to cool down the temperature, then roll the cookies in powdered sugar to coat them with sugar while they still have residual heat, being careful not to crack the cookies. (You can use a greased chopstick)
